Femen’s protest in Paris - Our body, our rules (Femen)
The members of Femen (anti-sexism, racism and homophobia group) are re-appropriating their bodies.
Femen (Фемен) is a Ukrainian protest group based in Kiev, founded in 2008. The organization became internationally known for organizing topless protests against sex tourists, religious institutions and international marriage agencies.
In April 2010 the organization was contemplating becoming a political party to run for seats in the
October 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary election. However, it did not take part in these elections.
In December 2011 three members of FEMEN were abducted and taken to a remote forest blindfolded, doused with oil, forced to strip and then threatened with being set afire, before having their hair violently cut and being abandoned naked.
